What I Learned After My Laptop Battery Started Dying Quickly

And I checked Windows' power and sleep settings properly for the first time, adjusting screen brightness and sleep timing to something more reasonable than the defaults I'd never touched. None of these changes were dramatic on their own, and I want to be honest that they didn't magically restore the battery to what it used to be — but the day-to-day drain slowed down enough that I stopped needing to carry the charger to every single errand out of habit.
The Lesson
The battery wasn't broken and nothing had gone suddenly wrong. It had been wearing down gradually the entire time, accelerated by habits I'd built up without ever examining them, each one individually so small it never registered as a decision at all.
